About Y.A.R.D.
Y.A.R.D. (Youth Against Recreational Drugs) is a youth development organization dedicated to building leaders through sports, mentorship, community engagement, and positive opportunities that inspire young people to protect their dreams and pursue their full potential.
Our Story
Y.A.R.D. was born from a deeply personal realization.
As a father, I watched my son develop extraordinary athletic ability and a passion for basketball. Like many young athletes, he dreamed of competing at the highest levels and worked hard to pursue that goal. He earned the respect of coaches, teammates, and those around him through his talent and dedication.
But I also witnessed something that many families experience in silence.
I began to see influences enter his life that slowly started competing with that dream. Not because he lacked ability. Not because he stopped wanting success. But because certain choices and environments can gradually pull young people away from the future they once imagined for themselves.
That experience led me to ask a simple but powerful question:
What happens when gifted young people begin to lose sight of their future before they even have the chance to pursue it?
Y.A.R.D. was created to help answer that question by providing positive opportunities, mentorship, leadership development, and community support that help young people stay connected to their goals and realize their full potential.
